28 April 2009 XL Subscribers Drop 1 Million in Q1

Jakarta, The Jakarta Post – The number of subscribers to the country’s third largest telecom operator PT Excelcomindo Pratama Dropped one million in the first quarter of this year after it increased the selling price of its premier cards.

President director Hasnul Suhaimi said that the subscribers of XL dropped to 25 million in the first three months of this year form 26 million, as of the end of 2008.

“We increased the price of premier cards to reduce the number of people who only buy XL cards for one-time use,” Hasnul said.

However, Hasnul said that XL remained on track to achieve 30 million subscribers by the end of this year, saying that demand usually picked up in the second and third quarters of the year. -JP
